AERO Delft invited partners, investors and press to a special day at Fokker Terminal in The Hague. The student team presented progress on their hydrogen aircraft — a project that brings together innovation, engineering and ambition. My brief: capture the energy of the event for website, social media and press materials.
Fokker Terminal is an iconic venue for aviation events. The industrial character of the hall — high ceilings, steel and glass — provides a powerful backdrop. As an event photographer, I look for images that show both the scale of the venue and the human scale of the story: speakers on stage, teams with prototypes and conversations during breaks.
At events like this I work discreetly and quickly. Keynotes do not wait; networking moments are fleeting. By reviewing the programme in advance and marking key moments, I can cover multiple angles in parallel without disrupting the flow. The result is a set of images ready for immediate use: well lit, sharp on the subject and consistent in style.
Technical details and prototypes call for close-ups with context. An engine component in an engineer's hands tells more than an isolated product shot. That combination of people and technology fits AERO Delft and makes the reportage recognisable for their community.
