Schippers Architects is a renowned firm in The Hague with a clear vision for sustainable, people-centred design. For their website and communications I created a series of corporate photographs: team portraits, workplace atmosphere in the office and detail shots of materials and models. The goal was an authentic image that shows craftsmanship and collaboration.
Corporate photography for architects calls for a different approach than a standard team shoot. Space, light and material are part of the story. In the studio and office I use existing daylight where possible, supplemented with soft flash to model shadows without disturbing architectural lines.
I prefer portraits in context: at a drawing table, with a scale model or in front of a project on the wall. That way images feel natural and immediately show what the firm does. During a corporate reportage I plan fixed blocks for individual portraits and open moments for spontaneous situations — a meeting, a look at a model, hands with material samples.
Detail photographs of stone, wood and structures add depth to the series. They show that Schippers does not only draw, but also thinks in materials and execution. Those images work well as supporting visuals alongside the larger portraits and space photographs.
